Privacy
What we hold, and what we will never do with it.
This page is short on purpose. A privacy notice that takes twenty minutes to read is a privacy notice designed not to be read.
Second Wind Credit is not a real company and this website does not collect, transmit or store anything. The contact form goes nowhere; what you type into it never leaves your browser. The text below describes how a practice of this kind ought to handle information, and it is written as a demonstration of that.
The four promises
- We do not sell your information. Not to lenders, not to lead brokers, not to anyone, in any form, including "anonymised".
- We do not put you on a mailing list. There is no newsletter and no re-marketing. If you call and decide against it, you will not hear from us again.
- We do not use tracking pixels or advertising cookies on this site. There is no analytics script, no Meta pixel, no session recorder.
- We do not pull your credit without written authorisation that names what we may do and that you can withdraw in a sentence.
What we would hold, and why
If you become a client: your name, contact details, date of birth and Social Security number, because a credit bureau will not release a report without them. Copies of your three reports. The letters we send and the replies that come back. Notes from sessions. Invoices.
The Fair Credit Reporting Act requires a permissible purpose for obtaining a consumer report. Ours is your written instruction, given in a limited authorisation that names the bureaus and furnishers we may contact and the matters we may discuss. It expires, and you may withdraw it at any time by telling us, in any form, including by phone.
How long we would keep it
Working files for two years after the last piece of work, then shredded and deleted. Contracts, cancellation forms and invoices for five years, because the Credit Repair Organizations Act and ordinary bookkeeping both require records to exist. Your Social Security number is deleted as soon as the report requests are complete.
You can ask for everything we hold about you at any time and get it within seven days, on paper if you want paper, at no charge. You can ask us to delete anything not required by law and we will do it and confirm in writing.
Who would see it
The two of us. A credit bureau or furnisher, only as named in your authorisation and only about your file. Nobody else — not a marketing partner, not an affiliate, not a parent company, because there is not one. If we were ever compelled by a court order we would tell you unless the order forbade it.
Security, honestly described
Paper in a locked cabinet in a locked office. Digital files encrypted, on machines with full-disk encryption, with two-factor authentication on every account. Email is not secure and we do not pretend otherwise, which is why we ask you never to send account numbers or a Social Security number by email, and why we will not send them to you that way either.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies. The customizer stores your chosen colours, fonts and business name in your browser's own local storage, on your device, so the demonstration survives navigating between pages. That information is never transmitted anywhere and clearing your browser data removes it. There is a Reset button in the panel that clears it immediately.
Complaints
Tell us first, because it is usually a misunderstanding and we would rather fix it. If that does not resolve it, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the Ohio Attorney General both take complaints, and we will help you write one against us if that is where it ends up. That offer is not rhetorical.
